Phoenix Sky Harbor International calls itself “America’s Friendliest Airport,” and a pilot program they’ve launched to help travelers eliminate stress and uncertainly about the time it will take to go through security might help them cement that reputation. Called PHX Reserve and boasting the tagline “Save Your Place. Reduce Your Wait,” the virtual queuing program allows travelers to reserve a specific time to go through the TSA Security Checkpoint line. Participation in the program is free—travelers don’t need to belong to TSA PreCheck or another trusted traveler program—and reservations can be made online up to three days before a flight. Passengers traveling as a group—up to ten—can reserve a single appointment.
“We are proud Sky Harbor can offer another great service to our customers to make their travels easier and more flexible,” said Chad Makovsky, director of Aviation Services for the City of Phoenix Aviation Department. “What’s good for our passengers and guests is good for the air travel industry as a whole.”
If the program (pardon the pun) flies, it just might come to an airport near you.
