By Megan Ekstrand

Forbes Travel Guide’s 2019 World’s Best Rooms awards Bernardus Lodge & Spa a place on its verified list of 41 hotel properties. Located in California’s wine country, this Carmel Valley property joins the list that showcases hotels from 17 different countries. The lodge’s perfect score for guest rooms and bathroom standards was assessed using Forbes Travel Guide’s high standards for luxury, comfort and convenience.

Resting on 28 acres of vineyard, the lodge offers a range of lifestyle accommodations. From 525 to 2,100 square feet, including villas and suites, Bernardus provides an abode for every guest. Features such as vaulted ceilings, double-sided fireplaces, complimentary wine bar and private patios and terraces with views of the Santa Lucia Mountains prove its hospitable excellence.

Chef Cal Stamenov provides a fine dining experience at the lodge’s sleek restaurant. Apart from the California-Mediterranean fare, tennis, bocce and croquet courts, two pools, an adults-only Jacuzzi, the apiary program and a 5,300-square-foot spa grant guests with a luxurious Carmel Valley vacation.

The Bernardus Lodge & Spa was honored as one of the best rooms out of a selection of nearly 1,700 hotels. “This is an incredible honor, one that speaks to our philosophy and passion as well as recognizing our hardworking staff,” says Sean Damery, vice president and general manager of Bernardus Lodge & Spa.
