Omni Hotels & Resorts recently announced Jim Caldwell as president of the hotel group. His new role will combine with his CEO position—that he has held since 13 years—and president of TRT Holdings, Inc.
“Jim has been a trusted friend and business advisor for more than 30 years,” says Robert Rowling, chairman and owner of TRT Holdings, Inc. “He is well respected by all within our organization and industry for his passion and commitment to our associates and his contemporaries. The best days of Omni Hotels & Resorts are yet to come, and under Jim’s leadership, we will continue our strategic focus and execution around our vision to enhance the experience for every guest who stays at an Omni property.”
Starting in 1991, Caldwell acted as vice president and general counsel for TRT Holdings, Inc. and served as president of its real estate subsidiary, TRT Development Company and its management subsidiary, Shoreline Operating Company for about five years. Omni Hotels & Resorts was purchased in 1996 after Caldwell led TRT Holdings Inc. through its acquisition strategy.
Caldwell had a critical role in the company’s early years, having developed the framework instrumental in the growth, development and management of the Omni brand. His vision for the brand was to enhance the guest experience by providing a high level of personalized service. Through the company’s associate empowerment program and service philosophy, which stresses the importance of customer interaction and finding opportunities to make a customer’s experience memorable.
Thanks to “Power One” program, and Caldwell’s influence and guidance, that vision became a reality—and can easily be seen through the numerous guest service awards and accolades Omni Hotels & Resorts has received over the last 20 years. Today, Omni Hotels & Resorts has 60 properties in North America and more than 21,000 associates.
