Chicago’s Hotel Versey to Debut Spring 2017

By M+E Staff

The Days Inn Chicago of Oxford Capital Group, LLC has announced the renovation and repositioning of the 1920s Lincoln Park-Lakeview building. The transformation will make way for the brand-new lifestyle hotel, Hotel Versey, in late spring 2017. Located in one of Chicago’s most popular neighborhoods, the hotel will cater mainly to locals and travelers looking for a modern-style, boutique hotel.

“The building’s prominent location gives us a great opportunity to serve a diverse range of travelers seeking a more authentic, neighborhood experience,” says John W. Rutledge, founder, president and CEO of Oxford. “Today’s discerning travelers look to engage with locals and learn about a city’s culture. We’re thrilled to be able to deliver a hotel product that will highlight the building’s layered history and surrounding community. We look forward to welcoming families visiting university students, Cubs fans, music lovers and all travelers that aim to stay as a local.”

Previously known as The Diversey Arms, the building’s new name pays tribute to its original title while also finding inspiration from the V-shaped structure of the triangular city block. Itonce served as a home for former jazz musician Bix Biederbecke and was later a popular spot for rock stars guests such as Nirvana, the Goo Goo Dolls, Kurt Cobain, Radiohead, Sheryl Crow and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. It’s musical history even earned it the nick-name “Rock and Roll Days Inn.”

Hotel Versey will have 135 rooms, a contemporary design, a showcase of local art in all public spaces, as well as a street-front restaurant and a series of retail businesses. Located in a dynamic neighborhood and cultural city, Hotel Versey will be a diverse setting for a diverse community.

“We believe a hotel like this is what this neighborhood has been missing. We’re excited to be able to introduce a hotel experience, typically reserved for core urban markets, to one of Chicago’s most visited neighborhoods,” states George Jordan, senior vice president of operations at Oxford Hotels & Resorts, LLC.

The hotel will remain affiliated with Days Inn by Wyndham and be open during construction. For more information about Hotel Versey, its renovation process or to make reservations, visit www.daysinnchicago.net or call 773-525-7010.
