Doug Small, Experience Grand Rapids CEO and president, was inducted into the Michigan Association Hall of Fame at the Michigan Society of Association Executives’ annual Diamond Awards ceremony earlier this month. The Michigan Association Hall of Fame honors individuals who demonstrate the best association management and excel in their profession.
“Doug has established himself as a prominent voice in our industry,” says Rick Winn, President of AHC+Hosptality and chair of the EXGR Board. “He has excelled in leading the EXGR team as they have created a dynamic tourism and meeting destination in Grand Rapids and Kent County.”
EXGR is the leading marketing company of Grand Rapids and Kent County. Kent County hotel occupancy rates and hotel room revenue have risen considerably since Small’s joining of the EXGR team in September 2008.
Small is a 35-year industry veteran and actively involved in the community. He is o nthe boards of the Economic Club of Grand Rapids, the Downtown Market, the Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association and a number of others.
“I am extremely honored to have been nominated by my peers in the Grand Rapids community and to be selected by my association peers statewide,” says Small. “I am so proud of the EXGR team and all our community partners for their exemplary work in making Grand Rapids and Kent County a top tourism destination. They truly share in this honor.”
