Florida Chapters Select MPI to Manage Conference

By M+E Staff

For the next two years, Meeting Professionals International will provide meeting management services for the Southeast Education Conference. MPI is responsible for managing and developing the overall program for the 2017 and 2018 conference, which is hosted by SEC’s four Florida chapters – Tampa Bay Area, Greater Orlando, North Florida and South Florida – known as TONS.

The conference is hosted by MPI’s four Florida chapters—Tampa Bar Area, Greater Orlando, North Florida and South Florida—together known as TONS. For their two-year agreement, an unprecedented arrangement, MPI will manage the programs for the 2017 and 2018 conferences.

“We are so excited about the partnership with MPI to manage the Southeast Educational Conference,” says T.J. Worrell, chair and regional vice president, TONS. “The continued success of the conference and our vision to be the premier professional development conference in the southeast led us to a complete redesign of the leadership and management for the conference.”

Founded in 2000, the conference has taken place 14 times every August in a Florida destination. On average, 500 attendees from across the US and Caribbean flock to the event. Dates for 2017 and 2018 will be announced this fall.

MPI will manage the event logistics, including site selection, staffing, registration, housing, sponsorships, and marking and communication support. They will work with TONS to plan general sessions, educational programming, networking opportunities, tradeshows, fundraising auctions and more.

“Without a doubt, all of the applicants would have helped the conference grow. However, MPI Global brought far more resources and opportunities to the SEC which are unmatched,” says Worrell. “We are confident MPI can take SEC to the next level in serving our MPI members through this partnership.”
