The Hilton Chicago/Oak Brook Hills Resort & Conference Center is displaying its commitment to the community through its partnership with a zoo in Brookfield, Ill.
This partnership is the second year in a row that the hotel has worked with a local zoo to provide bedding for endangered animals. Last year, they collaborated with Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo.
This year, the Brookfield Zoo will receive more than 500 donated blankets, pillowcases, sheets and duvet covers. The hotel also donated linens to local homeless shelters.
“While we aim to continually elevate our guest experience inside the hotel, we’re committed to operating a sustainable business and supporting the greater good of the whole community outside the hotel as well,” says Gabriella Perisin, director of housekeeping, Oak Brook Hill Resort.
Oak Brook Hill Resort has also launched two environmentally friendly initiatives—a beekeeping program and Monarch Butterfly waystations. But the hotel believes the zoo program may be the most unique, providing linens for bedding, medical procedures, transporting snakes and more.
“We are very appreciative of the donation from the HiltonChicago/Oak Brook Hills Resort & Conference Center,” says Mark Freedlund, play programs supervisor for the Chicago Zoological Society, which manages Brookfield Zoo. “At the Hamill Family Play Zoo exhibit especially, we are always in need of items for craft activities that our young animal lovers take part in.”
