Madden’s Resort Announces Changes to Leadership

By M+E Staff

The award-winning resort, Madden’s on Gull Lake, announced the retirement of its president, Brian Thuringer, who will be chairman of the board instead. Abbey Pieper will be the treasurer, chief sales and marketing officer, and Ben Thuringer will be the managing director & chief operating officer. Thuringer’s retirement was celebrated on Oct. 3 with his friends and family.

Founded by Jack and Jim Madden, Madden’s on Gull Lake opened its doors in 1936. It was eventually taken over by Brian and Deborah Thuringer. Siblings, Ben Thuringer and Pieper will work as a team to manage Madden’s 350 staff members.

“My brother Ben and I are very excited for our father to be taking this huge step in his career,” says Pieper. “He’s worked extremely hard to make Madden’s a one-of-a-kind destination and we’re humbled to be following in his footsteps. He and our mother have taught us so many valuable lessons about how to make Madden’s a great place and we look forward to continuing the tradition in our family’s honor.”

Madden’s is closing for the 2016 resort season in late October and is set to re-open in April.
