Margaritaville Resort Orlando Celebrates Groundbreaking

By M+E Staff

In late July, Margaritaville Resort Orlando celebrated the groundbreaking of its new hotel. The $750 million property will have 187 rooms, located next to U.S. Highway 192 near Toll Road 429 in Western Osceola County. The gathering on July 27 hosted Margaritaville executives, local dignitaries, and representatives from the development company Encore Capital Management, for a total of more than 250.

“This is an exciting day for Margaritaville Resort Orlando and sharing great food, drinks and fun is the best way to celebrate breaking ground on our Margaritaville-branded hotel,” said Jim Bagley, project developer of Margaritaville Resort Orlando. “Soon travelers from all over the world can escape to paradise with an unforgettable Margaritaville vacation in the heart of Orlando.”

The celebration included an island inspired buffet, stilt walkers, steel drummers, and tropical drinks. JD Spradlin from Radio Margaritaville broadcast live, along with remarks from John Cohlan, the Chief Executive Officer of Margaritaville Holdings, and Bagley as well.

The new Margaritaville Resort Orlando will be on a 300-acre property, with 200,000 square feet of retail space, and 30,000 square feet of function space. Other amenities include a 12-acre waterpark, wooded fitness trails, a water taxi system, a three-acre swimming area, a dining and entertainment district, and a wellness center.

The resort’s décor elements include a giant flip-flop sculpture and an upside-down margarita glass chandelier. The 1,000 units on the resort include cottages, villas, timeshare units, and resort vacation homes. For more information, visit www.MargaritavilleResortOrlando.com.
