Marriott Syracuse Downtown Completes Restoration

By M+E Staff

Following two years of renovations and a $76 million price tag, the Marriott Syracuse Downtown in New York—previously the Hotel Syracuse—has reopened. The hotel, which has hosted the likes of President Kennedy, President Eisenhower, Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones and John Lennon, is revamped and ready for guests. Marriott operator, Crescent Hotels & Resorts will manage the hotel.

“Bringing this hotel back to life was the goal of a committed group of stakeholders which included the city, county and state, Hayner Hoyt as well as so many others who helped make this a reality,” says Ed Riley, owner and developer of the hotel. “This hotel will once again be the gathering place for our community, within which new generations will create their memories as past generations have. It was a destination in its time, and today I’m proud to say it’s ready to be one again.”

The 261-room hotel’s restoration maintained the historic touches while adding modern conveniences. Guests have high-speed Internet access, business centers, express check-in and check-out, and an exercise facility. Two of the hotel’s three ballrooms have also been restored to their original design while the former Imperial Ballroom has become a tech-savvy meeting space, The Finger Lakes Ballroom.

The Finger Lakes Ballroom is equipped with high-speed wireless Internet, built-in video systems, advanced acoustics and point-source speakers. Their services exceed the IACC’s standards and the space is built for groups of 10 to 600.
