MCWHINNEY brings new Hyatt Centric Congress hotel to Austin

Modern ingenuity, local history and curiosity shape the foundation that will soon be home to the new Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin hotel. Expected to open in the fall of 2021, Colorado-based real estate investor and developer McWHINNEY has big plans for this full-service lifestyle hotel.

Located in the heart of downtown Austin, the 31-story boho-chic hotel will feature 246 guest rooms, indoor and outdoor restaurants/bars and a state-of-the-art 24-hour fitness center. The nearly 2,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space will include a 1,400-square-foot Presidential Suite that will be available to use as private event space.

The Hyatt Centric brand makes “living in the now” nothing short of second nature for its guests. Created to connect guests to the heart of the action in their city, hotel will provide the opportunity to experience a full-service boutique setting like never before.

As an ode to the unique culture surrounding the city of Austin, “The hotel will be focused on local, local, local. The interior design of the public spaces will celebrate Austin’s unique bohemian lifestyle and amazing food, music and theater scenes,” says Chief Investment Officer, Dave Johnstone.

The hotel will be strategically located directly next to the renowned Paramount and State Theatres on Congress Avenue. What some might call the main artery running through Austin, here; guests can enjoy a variety of live performances and festivals throughout the year, while also paying a visit to the Texas State Capitol or Austin Convention Center. Students and those alike can rest assured knowing they are just a short distance from the University of Texas at Austin and 6th Street entertainment district.

No stay would be complete without experiencing the stunning views of downtown Austin, as offered on the hotel’s 8th floor lounge and bar. Additional dining options include a locally inspired ground floor restaurant/bar and 2nd floor bar.
