Every four years, the presidential inauguration, in Washington, D.C., attracts record numbers of travelers. 2017 is no exception. As hotels expect an increase in visitors, so too does public transportation. As such, the Silver Line Metrorail has expanded with new rail stops near hotels.
Crescent Hotels & Resorts operates 14 hotels in the DC/Baltimore area and has three hotels located near the Silver Line. Sheraton Tysons Hotel is located two blocks from the Silver Line and has seen recent growth. Linda Westgate, general manager of the hotel, credits the growth to its proximity to transportation, along with many restaurant and shopping options. The hotel is providing inauguration packages that cost $329 per night, and include Metrorail passes, complimentary parking and WiFi.
“This will be first presidential inauguration where guests will be able to take a complimentary hotel shuttle not only to Dulles International Airport but also Metrorail, connecting them to the city for all key events,” says Don Anderson, general manager, Westin Reston Heights.
The Westin Reston Heights is also offering inauguration packages, which include Metrorail passes. Rates for the Westin Reston Heights begin at $195, and Sheraton Reston Hotel begin at $165.
“The options for lodging have really opened up for this presidential inauguration,” says Tim Bowes, vice president, Crescent Hotels & Resorts. “The key really is to be close to Metrorail.”
