Hilton Hotel and Minneapolis-based Kaeding Management Group have teamed up to open the Hampton Inn and Suites Minneapolis University Area in early October.
“It’s the first Hilton hotel project within the Kaeding Management Group portfolio, and the first one that combines the essence of the neighborhood, the Hampton brand and the Kaeding touch,” says Jamie Goodchild, general manager of the Hampton Inn and Suites Minneapolis University Area.
The hotel, located near the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, has 117 rooms. It has been designed with green elements like BOLYU carpet made from recycled glass and plastic, and will incorporate reclaimed wood and brick from the Harris Machinery factory. The hotel is within walking distance of TCF Bank Stadium, Williams Arena, Mariucci Arena and the Green Line Metro station.
“The hotel already has a close working relationship with the University of Minnesota,” says Goodchild. “We think it’s going to be a great fit for the surrounding historic Prospect Park community.”
Goodchild anticipates serving University of Minnesota alumni and families as well as local business travelers, and so does Bill Fortier, the senior vice president, development – Americas, Hilton Worldwide.
“Hilton Worldwide is one of the largest and most rapidly expanding hospitality companies in the world, and we are excited to continue that expansion in the Twin Cities,” he says. “We look forward to welcoming families who are visiting their children at the University of Minnesota during weekends and for special events. We are sure to be a top lodging choice for the Golden Gopher community.”
The hotel will offer On the House hot breakfast and On The Run breakfast bags Monday through Friday. Other amenities will include free Wi-Fi, meeting space, complimentary printing, a business center, fitness center, pool, complimentary shuttle service and more.
Rates for the hotel will start at $159 per night, and free parking is included. Through Dec. 31, Hilton HHonors members will receive double points for their stays.
