The Quad Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau (QCCVB) recently announced that Dave Herrell has been named the new president and CEO, with an official start date of October 8, 2018.

“After a nationwide search and exhaustive interview process Dave was unanimously recommended by the search committee,” said Nancy Ballenger, search committee chair and board member.  “Dave is a proven executive with a passion for making organizations and communities the best they can become, and we are thrilled to have him in the Quad Cities.”

Herrell comes to the Quad Cities from Jacksonville, Fla. after serving in management positions there, as well as in Phoenix and Nashville. His background includes work in destination and brand marketing, operations, business development, fundraising, communication, administration, operations and non-profit management.

“The Board of Directors of the QCCVB is looking forward to working with the new President/CEO Dave Herrell,” says Tim Huey, QCCVB board chair. “Mr. Herrell comes to the Quad Cities with considerable experience and organizational skills that make him well suited to lead our QCCVB.  The Board is anxious for him to start and is confident the Quad Cities will give him a warm welcome.  He has worked for and with municipal governments in other communities. He has managed and promoted sports events and venues for many professional, collegiate, and amateur sports organizations.  Mr. Herrell is excited about the prospect of leading the QCCVB and helping the Quad Cities prosper and grow.”

Herrell’s resume includes past leadership positions at the City of Jacksonville’s Office of Sports & Entertainment, as well as the Arizona Sports Foundation, the Nashville Sports Council, and Music City Bowl, Inc. Throughout his career he has worked on numerous NCAA events, SEC Conference Championships, neutral site college football games, various amateur athletic and national governing body events, multi-day music & entertainment festivals, air shows with The Blue Angels, arts & cultural events, and more.

“I’m excited by the opportunity to drive economic development and help grow the Quad Cities brand during such a transformative time for the region,” says Herrell. “By collaborating with the QCCVB Board of Directors, public/private stakeholders, community partners, and staff, we will make a positive impact, cast the vision for the future, tell our destination’s authentic story, and compete. I am grateful for the QCCVB Search Committee’s and Board’s confidence, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Herrell will lead the region’s official destination marketing and management organization that positively impacts the area’s economy and quality of life while promoting the Quad Cities brand. He will also oversee day-to-day operations, and lead staff responsible for tourism marketing, brand development, group and convention sales, visitor experience, membership and will manage the recruitment and hosting of sporting events to the region.
