Saint Paul RiverCentre renamed their Grand Ballroom in memory of the late William Morrissey, owner and operator of the St. Paul-based Morrissey Hospitality Cos., who died in April of this year. The dedication ceremony had more 200 attendees.

“This ballroom is dedicated in Bill’s honor for his lifelong commitment to the hospitality industry and for his leadership and compassion within the local community,” says Terry Mattson, president and CEO, Visit Saint Paul. “To those who had the pleasure to know Bill, it is no surprise that he made such an impact, both professionally and socially.”

Morrissey was a highly involved and experienced in the hospitality industry. He was the chairman of the boards for the Minnesota Lodging Association, Hospitality Minnesota, Historic Hotels of America and twice for the St. Paul Convention and Visitors Bureau; he also was on the board of directors for organizations like Explore Minnesota, Meet Minneapolis and more.

“This is truly an honor,” says Morrissey’s son Christopher. “This ballroom will stand as a permanent testament to my dad’s legacy.”
