Schweitzer Mountain Resort to Open Lodge at The Summit

By M+E Staff

Schweitzer Mountain Resort will open a Sky House summit lodge on Dec. 16. The two-story lodge will offer a range of amenities, including a restaurant and full-service bar.

Located on the summit of Schweitzer Mountain, the Sky House will be open year-round and offers panoramic views of the Selkirk Mountains, Lake Pend Oreille and the resort. The 9,000-square-foot lodge was designed by architect Tim Boden and engineered by Dave Thompson.

“We are thrilled to open the Sky House for the 2016–2017 season,” says Tom Chasse, president and CEO, Schweitzer Mountain Resort. “We know the lodge will become a destination attraction during the summer and winter seasons, providing another reason for outdoor enthusiasts to add Schweitzer to their must-visit lists.”

The main floor of the Sky House will be home to The Nest Restaurant that offers indoor and outdoor seating for up to 180 people. The Nest will serve coffee from Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters. Peter Tobin, the head chef, curated a menu of small plate options like sausage sliders and roasted curried cauliflower.

“Pete is a certified executive chef from The Culinary Institute of America and is a certified culinary educator,” says Chasse. “He’s worked with a variety of organizations including the Seattle Seahawks and previously served as an educator at the Inland Northwest Culinary Academy. Pete is as passionate about Schweitzer as he is about the culinary arts and we are excited to have him at the Sky House.”

The Sky House will be open to the public on Dec. 17; daily hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
