To welcome the holiday season, The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa in Denver hosted its 32nd Annual Champagne Cascade on Nov. 24. The champagne cascade is a two-story pyramid made up of 6,000 glasses. Using a napoleonic saber, a master swordsman severs open bottles of Moet and Chandon to pour into the uppermost glass of the pyramid to create a cascading waterfall of Champagne that is then distributed into the rest of the glasses below. The cost of attendance varied from $25 for adult general admission and $20 for children. For a VIP viewing experience, individuals could purchase tickets for $175.
A champagne dinner was held the evening before for a total of 32 guests, no doubt to symbolize the 32nd year of the elegant event. Guests were served a four-course meal from a five-star menu prepared by Executive Chef, Rodney Herwerth. Meals were of course paired with champagne, Dom Perignon, Moet and white glove service. For an all-inclusive experience, tickets were sold at $275 each.
Along with the awe-inspiring champagne cascade and dinner a handful of other seasonal festivities were made available, including a guest appearance by Santa Clause himself, accompanied by the “Grand Dame” of Denver, a dazzling display of Christmas trees and twinkling lights that sets the scene for a wintery wonderland.
A portion of the proceeds from this event were donated to the non-profit, Make-A-Wish Colorado, an organization dedicated to granting children who suffer from critical illness life-changing wishes. The organization has granted more than 5,000 wishes to children across Colorado, and this year The Brown Palace Hotel graciously donated $10,000 to the cause.
“The Cascade is a Denver mainstay and one of The Brown’s most time-honored traditions. There truly is no better way to begin the holiday season then with a glass of Champagne, Santa and the most dazzling holiday decor in the area. This is the first year The Brown has hosted a dinner the night prior to the Cascade though we’re sure this will become a tradition of elegance to go hand-in-hand with the Champagne Cascade itself,” says Tim Wolfe, general manager of the Brown Palace Hotel & Spa.
