Chicago’s leading community and corporate company Wintrust Financial Corporation has announced they’re opening a new event center at the McCormick Square that will be called Wintrust Arena. This announcement came from a letter of intent that was signed with DePaul University.
“As Chicago’s Bank, we try to align with the iconic brands, organizations and institutions that make this city what it is. DePaul University and McCormick Place fit right into that,” says Edward J. Wehmer, president/CEO, Wintrust. “Sponsoring DePaul’s new arena is both a great way for us to increase our presence in the city and a great way to help revitalize a historic Chicago district. We’re proud to be involved with the project.”
This new arena will be home to DePaul University’s basketball teams and will expand to host concerts, sporting events, meeting and conventions, and other special events that Chicago hosts regularly. Adding this arena will gain more tourism considering this new venue will be able to host more events in the city. It will feature 10,387 seats with 22 suites, 479 club seats, two VIP lounges and a special Demon Deck only allowed for DePaul University students.
“DePaul is grateful to have found an ideal naming rights partner in Wintrust—a company deeply rooted in the city of Chicago,” says Rev. Dennis H. Holtschneider, C.M., president, DePaul University. “We are excited to see the Wintrust Arena come to life over the next year, and ultimately, bring DePaul basketball back to Chicago.”
