Hotel Indigo Denver Names Scott Paradine General Manager

By M+E Staff

Hotel Indigo Denver, located downtown in the Union Station neighborhood, has recently appointed Scott Paradine as general manager. With 19 years of hospitality experience, Paradine entered the industry as a valet parking attendant. He spent five years as an operational manager nine years in sales and marketing at various venues, which he entered while working as an assistant front office manager for a 900-room venue in Washington, D.C.

Paradine is a native of Colorado, a self-proclaimed Broncos fan, avid skier, and lover of live music and travel. A recent trip to Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand was a favorite for him, and the opportunities to travel are one of the elements of the hospitality industry he loves.

Paradine’s most recent position was as general manager of the Fairfax Marriott in Fairfax, Virginia. During his time here, he took the hotel to the top 12 percent in all of North America for GSS Overall Satisfaction in 2013, 2015, and 2016. During his tenure, he facilitated a number of large projects: a complete renovation, elevator modernization, restaurant construction and redesign, pool-to-fitness center conversion and more. Under Paradine’s leadership, the Fairfax Marriott saw a profit growth of 40 percent from 2013 to 2016. In 2017, his achievements and dedication to the hotel and the Fairfax area helped elect him the Visit Fairfax Board of Directors. “This is an industry where you go to build a career, not just work for a few years and move on,” he commented.

Before his work at Fairfax Marriott, Paradine was the director of sales and marketing at Richmond Marriott in Richmond, Virginia and the associate director of sales at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Anaheim, California. He served at Hyatt Regency Denver as the senior sales manager as well as the Colorado Convention Center, where he booked more than $14.5 million in rooms sales in two years.

“I am thrilled to be part of the Hotel Indigo Denver team,” says Paradine. “With an uncompromising focus on quality, I look forward to providing a refreshing and unique hotel experience that encourages our guests to get out and explore our neighborhoods.” In a fairly new market, Paradine is working to make an impact. “My goal in coming into the Hotel Indigo Denver is to help us define the guest experience in a unique way in an emerging brand in a neighborhood that didn’t exist two years ago.”

Not only does Paradine aim to serve guests well, but he also wants to give his employees an outstanding experience. He says since the hospitality industry is centered on the service of others, he has gotten to meet some incredible people who are great to work with, and he wants to capitalize on that in his new role. “My big, hairy, audacious goal is to make this the best place to work in Denver,” he says, explaining how when employees enjoy their jobs, everything else falls into place easier. “If we keep that as a top-of-mind goal, then there’s no other goal, whether it’s guest service or financial, that we cannot achieve.”
