International Chef Patrice Martineau Joins Harbor View Hotel as Executive Chef, Launching Two New Restaurants

By M+E Staff

Patrice Martineau has joined Harbor View Hotel in Martha’s Vineyard as the executive chef. Martineau will launch two flagship restaurants, Bettini Restaurant and Roxana Bar, with the hotel’s reopening on May 1. The restaurants are named after Harbor View Hotel owner Bernard Chiu’s daughters, Bettina and Roxana.

“As a summer resident of Edgartown, I’ve become familiar, as so many others have, with the stories and names of the men whose history is entwined with this island—in particular the former whaling captains whose names are immortalized above many entry doors as well as Harbor View’s own Captain’s Cottages,” Chiu says. “I believe it is time to recognize and celebrate the strong women who are forces in our community. I wanted to acknowledge my daughters, who are a source of strength and inspiration for me, by doing something truly special that etches their names into the beautiful story of the hotel and the island.”

Chiu says Martineau’s experience working in some of the finest restaurants in the world will bring a new creative vision to Harbor View’s new restaurants. Martineau is a French-born chef who has worked in Savoy Hotel in London, DANIEL in New York and The Peninsula Hotel in Tokyo.

Bettini Restaurant will seat 95 guests and focuses on locally sourced seafood and organic produce. Roxana Bar will seat 55 and will offer international tapas and a bar program of beyond top-shelf liquor.
