Barbara Christoph was recently hired as the new general manager of Arthouse Hotel

1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role?

I’m excited to take on this role during a time when we are redefining Arthouse Hotel as the go-to property for both NYC locals and visitors from all around the world. With the superb Arthouse Wine Bar and live arts programming from in-house comedy shows, live music, art auctions and exhibits, and more, the hotel is the perfect place for those searching for more than an average hotel stay.

2. How do you think past experiences have prepared you for this role?

My passion wholeheartedly lives within the hotel industry. Starting as an Assistant Front Office Manager at the Hotel Roger Williams and working my way up to General Manager of The Quin Hotel – a position I held for the past five years. Altogether, I have over 15-years of treasured experience under my belt and am honored to bring my expertise to this hotel. I am most excited to be a part of the growth of this brand and foster experiences with the team.

3. How did you get into the industry?

I studied Hospitality and Tourism at college in Brazil and fell in love with the industry. I loved the idea of creating a welcoming space for every guest. From there, I became the Public Relations Manager at the Sofitel Salvador and then joined the team at Hotel Roger Williams. I worked my way up from Assistant Front Office Manager to Front Office Manager, to Hotel Manager, to now General Manager. It helps to have an understanding of all these roles to ensure the hotel team works in harmony. It makes for great stories too. If hotel walls could talk.

4. What are you hoping to achieve in your new role?

I want to continue to carry on Arthouse Hotel New York City’s reputation as a cultural catalyst in the Upper West Side and New York, as well as implement new programming and initiatives to entertain both guests and visitors.

5. What do you enjoy most about the industry?

I enjoy working with people that are just as passionate about hospitality as I am. It’s a great community that is constantly growing and evolving, and I’m excited to see what the future holds.
