Joel Paige was recently named the COO of Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia.
1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role?
I am looking forward to helping Escalante Golf continue to advance Kingsmill Resort as a world-class golf and condominium-style resort.
2. How do you think past experiences have prepared you for this role?
My tenure with some of the most iconic brands, resorts and destinations in golf and hospitality have positioned me to help lead Kingsmill into the future. Over the years, trial and error has led to the development of best practices I intend to combine with new opportunities and experiences at Kingsmill. As the managing director of Lansdowne Resort & Spa in Leesburg, Virginia, golf, meeting space and membership were key areas of focus that will translate well into my role at Kingsmill.
3. How did you get into the industry?
I began in the hospitality industry in high school as a bellman at the Disneyland Hotel where I worked weekends and summers. It was at that point I knew this was the career choice for me. Many years later and I haven’t looked back.
4. What are you hoping to achieve in your new role?
In my new role, I want to continue to build and add to the tradition of this iconic resort – the only AAA Four Diamond condominium resort in historic Williamsburg, Virginia. It’s a family tradition. We see children who bring their children and so on for generations. Our world-class golf, excellent culinary options, luxury spa, endless adventure offerings and the new 7,000-square-foot private Estate at Kingsmill position the resort to achieve top ratings.
5. What do you enjoy most about the industry?
I enjoy the relationships I develop – from staff to guests. The people are what fuel my passion to be the best I can be and lead by example.
