Q&A: Ryan Maru, director of revenue management, Axiom Hotel

Ryan Maru was recently named director of revenue management of Axiom Hotel, a Sightline Hospitality property.

1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role?

I’m most looking forward to the opportunity to work at a hotel in a great location – one that is just steps from such an iconic symbol of San Francisco, the cable cars.

2. How do you think past experiences have prepared you for this role?

I feel like my past work in the San Francisco and Hawaii markets has given me the expertise to assist both the Axiom Hotel and Sightline Hospitality in our efforts to grow and launch bold new programs.

3. How did you get into the industry?

I graduated from California Culinary Academy with a degree in hotel management and then did an internship at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, which cemented how much love I loved the industry.

4. What are you hoping to achieve in your new role?

I’m hoping to be able to grow with the company and assist in every way to continue making the Axiom Hotel a top hotel in the city.

5. What do you enjoy most about the industry?

I’ve always enjoyed networking and one of the most important aspects of this industry for me has been creating and sustaining relationships with my peers. Hospitality is all about those connections and it’s the reason I continue to love what I do every day.
