Alven Diaz was recently hired as chief technology officer for Conference Solutions in Chicago.

1. What are you looking forward to in your new role as chief technology officer at Conference Solutions?

Conference Software Solutions is transitioning into a vital phase of the company. We have been able to identify and deliver a remarkable solution to our customer’s needs. As we mature in our offering, there will be a need to innovate and develop the next critical technology for our company. I am looking forward to differentiating our company and enhancing our customer experience by building and integrating that next generation of technology.

2. How do you think your past industry experience has prepared you for this role?

I have been blessed to be involved in various technological roles in companies of all sizes. My experience in smaller startup companies has provided me with the raw requirement of having to move quickly in all aspects of an organization. Being involved in the front lines has helped me develop the ability to derive tactics that align with our business strategy. Working in a larger enterprise, I learned to understand how utterly critical effective communication is. Together, I feel that combination provides me with the forethought needed to scale and grow our business.

3. What goals do you have in mind for the company for this year and further down the line?

Way too many! I have always believed that one of the factors of success in a technology company comes from having a solid product and software engineering team. It is extremely important that we build and grow those teams by hiring the right people.

As we move into next year, we really want to expand the application of our platform to many other vertical industries. This is becoming a very active and attractive space, and we want to be the ones leading that expansion.

4. How did you get into the industry?

I have been involved in software technology for as long as I can remember. When I first had the chance to meet our CEO, I was not aware of how much potential and opportunity existed in the industry. It has introduced a new focus on the importance of networking and developing valuable relationships for business professionals and myself. The balance of such an active and exciting industry and the need for technology solutions were just too intriguing to pass up.

5. What do you enjoy most about the organization?

The greatest aspect of our organization is definitely the team—the raw energy and unrivaled intensity of our CEO, the vast experience and influence of our CMO, and of course, the skill and passion that our technology team brings to the table.

I also cannot forget our customers. They are what has made this company. I couldn’t be happier to have them right alongside us. I can’t tell you how great it is to be able to receive encouraging and valuable feedback from them.
