Brew Your Own Beer at Your Next Event

By Maya Fanjul-Debnam

Meredith Megan Rebar, owner of Home Brewed Events and Certified Cicerone, didn’t fall in love with craft beer until she tried one of the brews at Zeno’s Pub, a local dive favorited by her fellow Penn State alumni.

“I went to Penn State, which is a party school and I wanted more than was offered at parties,” Rebar says. “I stayed in the area during the summer and discovered an underground bar with great craft beer that had unique, different flavors. That’s when I fell in love with craft beer.”

Rebar’s passion for craft beer led her to become a certified cicerone, the beer equivalent of a sommelier, and is one of 2,700 certified cicerones in the world. She previously worked at Tröegs Tasting Room in Hershey before starting Home Brewed Events.

They offer a range of classes and packages, including private classes in your own home, beer tasting and pairings and a brew-off. The private brewing classes are ideal for smaller groups of up to five to 20 people while the pairings can be held for corporate groups up to 100. For those who are competitive, they offer head-to-head brewing where groups are split into two to four teams and compete to create the best brew.
