Minnesota-based winery and event venue, Cannon River Winery, has announced its acquisition by entrepreneur, Ron Stowell; co-founders, John and Maureen Maloney will be minority owners of the company.

“Cannon River Winery represents the best part of a growing preference among Minnesotans for high quality, homegrown products,” says Stowell, now the president and CEO “By increasing production, distribution and brand recognition, we plan to take John and Maureen’s original vision to the next level.”

Stowell intends to add 20,000 square feet to the corporate headquarters and add 11,000 vines to double production in the next three years at the Cannon-Falls-based winery. He also wants to increase distribution to restaurants, rebranding and focus on communications.

“Cannon River Winery is an anchor of the business community within Cannon Falls and the surrounding area,” says Mike Wheelock, a representative of Sunbelt Business Advisors, a Twin Cities-based business brokerage that assisted Cannon River Winery with its recent transition of ownership. We’re excited to see the company expand and grow its influence even further within the local economy and the wine and events industries overall.”

The winery is known both for its award-winning wines and its incredible event space that has hosted weddings, meetings and more. They have a renovated vintage warehouse that can host up to 250 guests; the space features a grand hall, catering kitchen and, of course, a wine bar. They host 50 weddings annually on top of countless meetings and entertainment events.
