Crystal Mountain Resort Adds Suites As Part Of $11-Million Expansion

By M+E Staff

The celebrated northern Michigan Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville opened 25 new suites as part of an $11-million expansion of its The Inn at the Mountain.

“It marked a great kickoff for our winter season,” says Brian Lawson, the resort’s public relations director. “Add to that addition our new Mountain Market and Bru lobby bar inside the inn, plus our new rooftop terrace, and visitors will see lots of excitement happening.”

The south wing suites in the 31,200-square-foot expansion feature floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the downhill ski trails and the village. Photographers were commissioned to supply photos for each of the new Michigan-themed suites. Their names include Sleeping Bear Dunes, Fishtown, Old Mission Peninsula, Platte Bay and Point Betsie.

The building contains a geo-thermal system with 26,000 feet of pipe that travel 460 feet below the ground to use the earth’s constant temperature to heat in the winter and cool during the summer. This system is 48 percent more efficient than a traditional system.
