A recent study conducted by Allianz Travel Insurance, found that more than 170 million Americans haven’t taken a vacation in the last year. That’s more than half of the population—53 percent, to be exact!
However, this is down from last year when 56 percent of respondents noted they hadn’t taken a vacation in the last year.
Worse yet, 37 percent haven’t been on vacation in more than two years (also down from last year). Fifteen percent of Americans haven’t been on a vacation in the last there months.
“We’ve only seen the slightest increase in Americans taking a vacation this year,” says Daniel Durazo, director of communications at Allianz Global Assistance USA. “Our findings show that Americans continue to be plagued by an alarming vacation deficit.”
Unfortunately, it’s not for lack of desire: Forty-one percent of those surveyed agreed that an annual vacation is important.
