New Venue Spotlight: The Music Box

By Dani Heinemeyer

Despite its name, San Diego’s newest entertainment venue, The Music Box, “is an outside- the-box experience,” says Pilialoha Estall, director of sales and public relations. “There are endless ways to create events here.” The tri-level, 13,000-square-foot venue features a combination of indoor and outdoor spaces, including an open main floor with stage; mezzanine opera boxes; fireside lounge; two outdoor patios; a VIP room with its own private elevator and bar, and more. Groups can rent one or all of the spaces, creating a unique experience for anywhere from 25 to 800 guests. Best of all: The stellar entertainment is free. If groups book a semiprivate event during a show night, they have the added benefit of access to The Music Box’s lineup of rock, pop, R&B and bluegrass bands. Since its launch in September 2015, the venue has hosted corporate gatherings that include holiday parties, fundraisers, and marketing and branding events for the pharmaceutical, legal and financial industries, among others. “People are excited about the creative possibilities,” says Estall. “Other music venues don’t have the unique ability to customize events like we do.”
