Island Incentive Trips Keep Top Performers on Their Toes

By M+E Staff

If part of your role as a meeting planner is to book incentive trips, one—or all—of the three main islands that comprise the U.S. Virgin Islands should be on your list. Each island has its own personality, whether your client’s top performers are relishing a quiet getaway or an adventure-rich paradise.

The island of St. Thomas is home to hundreds of shops and restaurants that regularly welcome passengers who disembark the cruise ships that anchor in the island’s bay.

A stay at the impeccable Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas means access to the resort’s many amenities and a concierge who can make arrangements for outings. The Ritz-Carlton has 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor conference and meeting space, including a 2,500-square-foot ballroom. For a unique venue, book the Ritz-Carlton’s 53-foot luxury catamaran, Lady Lynsey, or work with the hotel’s first-class team for a beach event.

On St. Croix, there are equally gorgeous beaches, but an extra dose of tranquility. The island’s two cities—Christiansted and Frederiksted—offer group attractions that include historic architectural tours or golf outings. Set up sailing lessons, snorkel amid sunken ships or hike to ancient ruins. The Renaissance St. Croix Carambola Beach Resort and Spa has 9,280 square feet of meeting space with high-speed Wi-Fi. Make a stellar impression by requesting beachside dining.

Sixty percent of the land on St. John is national park, which makes the smallest of the U.S. Virgin Islands a natural gem with secluded white sand beaches lining calm, blue bays. Caneel Bay Resort is an upscale getaway set on 170 acres and accessible only by boat or ferry. The resort has 166 guest rooms designed to blend with the natural surroundings, including the seven beaches that frame the resort. For meetings, Caneel Bay offers 5,593 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, including Turtle Bay Estate House, a private daytime venue for meetings up to 80 persons. The resort’s outdoor venues can accommodate receptions for up to 325 people.

When you make arrangements for guests to recharge at any of the USVI’s well-heeled resorts, the incentive will stay with them for years to come.
