MOBILE MAVENS RELEASES ITS NEW FLEET OF TRUCKS

By Macklin Tobin

If you thought the food truck craze couldn’t get any cooler, think again. Mobile Mavens, a catering company that delivers food in unique retro-styled campers and bike carts, has added three new trucks to its fleet: Lil’ Blu, a mobile bar in a throwback VW van; GaiBox, a chicken-and-rice van; and Picnic, a sandwich van.

Lil’ Blu does not come with alcohol, but planners can rent Half Pint, Lil’ Blu’s sidekick and mobile “kegerator,” to serve beer, wine and cocktails at private events. For the nondrinkers in your group or for parties sans alcohol, Lil’ Blu comes equipped with Dee’s Famous Soft Frozen Lemonade, Barnes & Watson Tahitian Iced Tea, Soda Jerk Raspberry-Vanilla soda, Timber City Ginger Beer, Stumptown Coffee Roasters Nitro Cold Brew, Som Shrubs Tamarind/Pineapple drinking vinegar, and seltzer water.

GaiBox offers locally sourced chicken with aromatic herbs and spices, and rice cooked in chicken broth. Customers can choose from three sauces to add to their chicken and rice: Nagoya sauce, comprised of shoyu, shiitake and mirin; Pattaya sauce, made up of a blend of Thai chilis, nuoc cham and sweet vinegar; or Lampang sauce, made with coconut, lemongrass, galangal, toasted peanuts, mint and cilantro.

Inside Picnic, customers will find nutritious, hearty sandwiches, including the Alder-Smoked Turkey Sammy, the Italian Sausage Meatball Hoagie and Lamar’s Jamaican Meat Pie. In addition, there are soups, soft pretzels, a cucumber side salad and dill pickles. Menus are customizable for events.
