By M+E Staff

In November, Dallas-based Todd Interests opened Thompson Dallas, part of hospitality brand Thompson Hotels. Thompson Dallas features 219 rooms, including 52 suites, two penthouse suites, and two culinary destinations.

The hotel is located at 205 N. Akard St. in the historic George Dahl-designed building, The National. The National is a $460 million preservation project and the largest adaptive reuse project in the history of Texas.

Thompson Dallas guest rooms average over 700 square feet and feature walnut and brass headboards that echo restoration efforts, blue lacquered walls, and rich leather upholstered furniture. The fourth floor National Ballroom has 14,000 square feet of uninterrupted space, three walls of floor-to-ceiling windows, 20-foot ceilings, private suites that overlook the space, as well as the ability to load in directly to the ballroom. Two acres of indoor-outdoor space on the ninth floor are home to a full-service spa, fitness and wellness center, and a resort-style pool, as well as Nine at The National, a casual daily dining venue that serves breakfast and lunch. The 10th floor features Catbird, a restaurant, lounge and rooftop bar.

Thompson Dallas’ lobby amenities include Tondeo Hair Lounge, a three-chair barbershop, as well as the floral design studio and workshop, The Botanical Mix.

Also opening its doors in North Texas is Grapevine’s Hotel Vin, the city’s first boutique luxury hotel. Part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, the property has more than 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including the Bordeaux ballroom, and an additional 38,000 square feet at its outdoor plaza.  Hotel Vin features 120 guest rooms, including six suites and one presidential suite, as well as Bacchus Kitchen + Bar, an all-day dining venue and full-service bar. Additional amenities include the Rioja Rooftop Terrace and the on-site wine tasting room, Riedel Room.

Hotel Vin is connected to  Harvest Hall, an expansive European-style food hall and entertainment destination. It is also located in front of the new TEXRail line, which connects DFW International Airport to downtown Fort Worth.
