New Venue Spotlight: The Murieta Inn & Spa

By Janet Fullwood

It’s not exactly rural, but neither is it urban or suburban. The Murieta Inn & Spa, which opened early this year 25 miles east of downtown Sacramento, is a luxury resort property on the edge of a high-end gated community and walking distance from California’s largest equestrian center. With 83 guest rooms, a 5,000-square-foot spa, 15,000 square feet of meeting space, a farm-to-fork restaurant and a hacienda theme, it’s attracting not just horse-show patrons, but Amador wine country visitors and planners seeking new and novel venues for their gatherings.

“The Murieta Inn and Spa is the ideal destination for executive retreats, corporate meetings, weddings  and successful incentive programs,” says Natalie  Kalinowski, catering and event sales manager. “We offer a variety of indoor and outdoor flexible meeting space with the ability to accommodate up to 250  attendees with our state-of-the-art technologies, along with the perfect balance of fun and relaxation for our business travelers.”

Parking and internet are complimentary, adds Aaryn Val, director of sales and marketing, and many off-site activities are available nearby. “Our business travelers can explore the quiet countryside of Rancho Murieta with a variety of activities, including equestrian events, wine tasting, golfing, hot air ballooning, boating and fishing.”

Meeting space at the inn includes a divisible, 2,800-square-foot ballroom, the Bourbon Room private dining/meeting space for up to 40, a boardroom, and extensive outdoor venues. The Gate Restaurant & Bar showcases produce from an on-site garden and wine from the nearby Amador and El Dorado wine regions, while the adjacent Murieta Equestrian Center attracts thousands to more than 50 events annually. Previously, the nearest hotel accommodations to the Rancho Murieta community were 15 or more miles away.

On the drawing boards for the property: an extended-stay hotel wing, retail center and residential housing.
