Restaurant Recommendation: Strip House

By M+E Staff

Don’t let the name scare you off—you won’t be required to shed any clothing upon entrance. Strip House, snuggled inside Livingston’s Westminster Hotel, is a jewel of a steakhouse that eschews that old boys-club vibe of the steakhouses of yesteryear for a chic European look and feel. From the elegant bar to the rich red walls punctuated by vintage black-and-white photographs, Strip House exudes exclusivity.

While the restaurant’s main dining room is available for buyouts, the jewel-in-the-crown here is the private dining room. With space for up to 18 guests, the intimate private room is available for breakfast, lunch or dinner events, as well as meetings. “The private dining room at Strip House is designed to make people feel as if they were in our home, yet has all the high-tech amenities an event planner requires to hold a successful business meeting, luncheon or intimate dinner,” says Penny Glazier, partner in the restaurant group that owns  Strip House at Westminster Hotel and Michael Jordan’s The Steak House in New York City.

Strip House isn’t just good looking; the food is sensational. Prime cuts of beef are the restaurant’s main dish, while traditional sides, such as thick-cut fries and creamed spinach, are given an upmarket flair. Private dining clients are treated to special touches, including menus printed with company logos (if desired), as well as Champagne toasts and specialty cakes. And speaking of cake, don’t leave without a taste of the 24-layer chocolate cake—it’s that decadently delicious. Have a dog at home? Pick up one of Strip House’s bones on the way out.
