Downtown Los Angeles has gone through a renaissance these past few years with a staggering number of hotels and restaurants opening or reinventing themselves. Among the most vibrant of these properties is The Mayfair Hotel, which brings a history, authenticity and creative energy that feels distinctly DTLA. The Mayfair was first established in 1926 and was the tallest building west of the Mississippi when it opened. Now, after a top-to-bottom redesign, it has reemerged with its Roaring Twenties vintage design—brass fixtures, vintage flooring and ceilings, fluted charcoal-colored column pillars—polished and restored, while new design elements have been added, including dramatic black cage chandeliers in the soaring lobby.
The 15-story, 294-room hotel has been designed to serve, according to press materials, “as a beacon of social gatherings for Angelenos.” Its multiple venues, including the grand lobby, mezzanine atrium, Eve American Bistro, M Bar, Library Bar, art gallery, ballroom and meetings and events spaces, are rich with warmth and a sense of place. Regular events and activations will include monthly art exhibits, live concerts, fashion shows, trio jazz nights and immersive DJ sets for local and globally celebrated artists. Groups convening here can take advantage of a custom-built Podcast Studio inside the Library and the Writing Room, with a large communal table, that’s adjacent to the bar.
