Since 1922, Granlibakken Tahoe has operated as a retreat center and resort just south of Tahoe City on the lake’s west side. But while it might be “Old Tahoe,” Granlibakken is in no way stuck in time. Its 160 rooms, in an array of buildings sprawled over 74 forested acres, range from standard, hotel-style units to studios, multibedroom condominiums, dorm rooms and stand-alone executive lodges with multiple bedrooms and suites, full kitchens and private meeting spaces all under one roof.
Conference facilities are extensive, encompassing 16,000 square feet of dining, meeting and exhibit space to accommodate groups of 10-500, plus large outdoor decks and lawns, tennis and pool complexes, a day spa, a ski and sledding hill, a ropes course and hiking trails leading directly from the property into the mountains above.
Granlibakken attracts a diverse clientele ranging from scientific, academic and tech groups to family and class reunions, corporate retreats, yoga getaways, sports camps and weddings.
The majority of conferences take place on weekdays, while the resort rocks and rolls with individual travelers on weekends and in winter. A hot buffet breakfast is included in the rates year-round, and all-inclusive meeting packages with full catering can be customized and modified according to budget and need.
