Extreme Sandbox, the newest attraction at Tanglewood Resort and Conference Center in Pottsboro provides guests the opportunity to operate real construction equipment such as excavators, bulldozers and skid steers in a 10-acre “sandbox” with the help of trained instructors. It’s teambuilding at its biggest.
“The idea actually came from my kids,” says Randy Stenger, founder and CEO of Extreme Sandbox. “I was a corporate guy with no background in construction equipment, but we were driving by a construction site and one of my kids was like, ‘Dad, wouldn’t it be fun to play on one of those trucks,’ and from there an idea was born.”
Tanglewood Resort and Conference Center is on the shore of Lake Texoma and accommodates groups up to 500 people in its 6,000 square feet of event space.
“Lake Texoma is an absolutely beautiful area and we are excited about bringing this new type of activity to that market,” says Stenger, who expects the Extreme Sandbox activities with team-building appeal to attract additional groups to the venue.
