The Driskill Hotel in Austin has completed an $8.8 million renovation to its public spaces, restaurants and guest rooms—just in time to celebrate the property’s 130th anniversary. The sophisticated and modern guest rooms have a number of 1920s vintage touches, in keeping with the rich history of the hotel. The carpeting in each room features a custom design interpreting Austin’s city grid as it existed between 1853 and 1890, and the guest room window valances include a historical sketch of the hotel as it appeared prior to 1886.
