Book Recommendation: “Events Spark Change: A Guide to Designing Powerful and Engaging Events”

By R. Chad Dove

“There’s no denying the power of an event,” says Jennifer Collins, president and CEO of JDC Events. “It’s important to know how to design them properly so that lives can be positively touched and changed. In my new book, readers will explore the ins and outs of how to build engaging, memorable and successful events.”

Collins, who founded JDC Events more than 20 years ago, authored the recently published book, “Events Spark Change: A Guide to Designing Powerful and Engaging Events.” Through JDC Events, Collins seeks to create events that are significant and distinctive for government, nonprofit and corporate clients. Collins business has become the No. 1 ranked meeting and event planning company in the Washington, D.C. area every year for the past 11 years, according to the Washington Business Journal.

Collins’ guidebook includes 10 chapters, which were written to be understandable and relatable to those in the industry. Within the book, readers will find action plans, worksheets, diagrams and case studies of experiences Collins has had throughout her career. All of this is included in order for Collins to convey real event planning knowledge to readers of her book. Choosing the right type of event, identifying resources for it, engaging stakeholders, soliciting sponsors, and creating an event flow as well as a post-event recap are all topics of discussion included in the new book.

“Events Spark Change: A Guide to Designing Powerful and Engaging Events” is published by Crescendo Publishing, and is available for Kindle or paperback, which can be purchased on Amazon.
