Looking for the perfect holiday gift for a VIP? A Bluesmart carry-on suitcase will surely impress. Created by and for tech-savvy travelers, these “smart bags” do everything but propel themselves down the airport concourse. Download the companion smartphone app to lock or unlock the bag via a remote Bluetooth connection (the lock is TSA approved, and you also get a physical key) and track its whereabouts in more than 100 countries via a GPS application. The bag has a built-in scale that lets you weigh it remotely—a feature especially useful on airlines that charge by weight. There’s also a proximity sensor that alerts you if the bag is removed from the place you left it. Plus, each case is equipped with a high-capacity battery and two USB ports for charging your devices during a layover (Bluesmart says there’s enough juice to charge an iPhone six times). The hard-shell case on spinner wheels comes in two models sized to fit overhead bins on almost all commercial jetliners. It retails for $449.
