The JW Marriott Grand Rapids and the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel now offer glow-inthe-dark yoga, where guests take a break from high-pressure meetings to enter a black-lit room full of music and energy. Upon arrival, attendees can have their arms, legs or faces painted with glow paint in preparation for yoga that is sure to quash any workday blues.
The experience was inspired by a Glow Yoga event that the JW Marriott hosted for a charity. TJ VanRhee, food and beverage operations manager, says that the event was so popular that staff had to recreate it for meeting and convention planners.
“Often convention attendees are left to choose between a fun cocktail hour or exercising in the hotel fitness center in between sessions to cap off their evenings—having to decide between fun or wellness,” VanRhee says. “Glow Yoga is fun, unique, memorable. Guests leave feeling refreshed, revived and more mentally focused.”
