Swarm to The Hive to Transform the Events Industry

By M+E Staff

Learn how you can be part of a revolution by attending this year’s The Hive, on September 26 at Bellevue’s Meydenbauer Center. With a theme of “Designing Your Event Experience,” The Hive brings together industry professionals – both planners and suppliers – from throughout the region for a full day of informative keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and networking activities.

The meetings and events industry is changing fast and our industry needs to transform quickly to meet the evolving expectations of meeting and event attendees.  There is a new paradigm: We no longer are planning meetings and events, but designing experiences that help attendees learn from the experts, build their community connections, and network with the best of the best.

This year’s The Hive will create a buzz in the industry, focusing on how we are collectively addressing the changes being demanded in today’s marketplace.

The event will kick off with a look at the current state of the industry and its evolution. Tom Norwalk, president and CEO of Visit Seattle, will team with Jeffrey Blosser, president and CEO of the Washington State Convention Center, and Brian Tennyson, AIA, principal of LMN Architects, to set the stage with a look at the latest trends in the business side of our industry and how new innovations and new approaches are being intertwined in all aspects of planning an event – from convention center design to menu selection and staging.

Trying to figure out how to take care of your guests with specialized dietary needs? During the lunch presentation, local catering experts will share their approach to addressing those needs, the benefits and opportunities of sourcing locally, and ways to avoid the typical rubber chicken lunch.

Your experience will be customized when you choose breakout sessions focused on the issues most important to you and your job.  MPI and other industry partners, such as ILEA and ESPA, are designing relevant sessions to make sure you will leave with new insight and strategies.

All educational sessions are being submitted to the Events Industry Council for continuing education approval.

Bees are a social group. To successfully manage their colony, they rely on communication, complex construction of their nest, environmental control and division of labor. (Sounds like the life of a meeting and event professional) With that in mind, The Hive will offer dedicated time for networking during extended breaks and our end-of-the-day cocktail reception.

The HIVE is designed to help you develop your fruitful career.

Don’t miss out. Please visit The HIVE’s website today to learn more and register for this exciting event.
