Sometimes it takes just one piece to inspire a complete vision.
For Ralph Bellisario, owner of Bellisario Florist in Eastpointe, that piece was a peacock-themed plate. Bellisario participates in the Royal Park Hotel’s annual brides showcase, and decided to create something unexpected.
“I just wanted more of a sleek, eclectic table, and not a cookie-cutter look with those charger plates [planners] use all thetime,” Bellisario says. “That’s why I used those peacock plates. Once I found them, I pulled everything else together.”
The clear acrylic, rectangular table featured a white benchalongone side and acrylic chairs along the other. Atop the peacock plates were two napkins-one a crushed, green satin, the other an amber satin-folded to look like a peacock’s neck. A beaded ring completed the creation.
A long hedge of white and green flowers, primarily hydrangeas, lilies and cymbidium orchids, formed the table’s centerpiece.
Bellisario placed green lights inside the two clear columns that formed the table’s base, lighting the table from underneath. Votive candles were placed around the tabletop, and tulip candles rose out of the centerpiece. Finally, glass bubbles with candles inside hung down from the ceiling. The effect, Bellisario says, “was beautiful.”Â
 Bellisario collaborated with Colonial Events to create a rich
vignette surrounding the table, with Colonial providing furniture and drapery. Gathered curtains hung in front of a foamtrellis; both were uplit and changed colors throughout the event. Green pillows matched the table’s palette.
“People were amazed when they stood in that room and the lights kept changing colors,” Bellisario says. “Everything just came together.”
