A locally based, national 401K management corporation sought out designer Leigh W. Karsch, owner of design firm La Petite Fleur (LPF), to plan its culmination dinner held at the conclusion of a three-day partner retreat.
LPF worked with the corporation’s marketing team to uncover that the keynote speaker hailed from Florida and with this information, designed a scene reminiscent of her home along the Gulf Coast. Karsch chose to stage an alfresco-inspired dinner in the Solarium at North Hills County Club, which is known for its serene setting, acclaimed golf course, renowned cuisine and fully equipped meeting areas.
Inspiration
As La Petite Fleur approached a design concept for the event, Karsch and her team considered the glass-framed space and its reflective qualities, which offered visual interest and, most importantly, natural light.
With the retreat’s purpose and keynote in mind, LPF incorporated seaside accessories and accents such as driftwood garland, shells, oyster pearls, flowers and sea glass-colored elements to suggest a Gulf-side dining experience.
Details
The scene was created with long dining tables dressed with a trio of textured linens and topped with oyster pearls, adding a feminine touch as well as a nod to the event’s menu. Florals and shells incorporated indigenous touches.
Collections of vignettes spanned tables from end to end and included: a pair of white turned pedestals topped with trailing dendrobium orchid sprays, accented with tropical Fatsia Japonica foliage; a duo of gold boats brimming with intricate shell balls, phaleonopsis orchids, lily grass and pearls and a presentation of tiered glass vessels with aqua-tinted water, submerged shells and sea grass-threaded pearls anchored the table.
Driftwood garlands, rope-wrapped capiz shell orbs, gold mercury glass votives and an abundance of seashells accented the tables while oversized shells cleverly served as vases.
To further evoke the glistening of sunlight dancing on water, LPF used elements that reflect and shimmer, such as the gold manzanita chandeliers, the composition of which mimics that of coral, dripping with oyster pearl strands. Guests sat upon Phillipe Starck’s Louis Ghost Chairs, which also added reflection and enhanced the crisp, open feel to the setting.
