Reasons to Host Meetings at The Broadmoor

By Lauren Pahmeier

So far, webcams and Zoom meetings have been an essential part of 2020. While digital options are functional placeholders for meetings, chatting with a coworker over Skype doesn’t always set up a team for success. Human connection is vital to team building, and hosting safe, small meetings is a great way to revitalize teams after months of working from home. Planning in-person gatherings a few miles from home at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs has plenty of perks to entice professionals to take a break from the (home) office and get out into the great American West.

An Abundance of Large Meeting Spaces

In stark contrast with a small 9×9 home office, professionals can spread out with their choice of 90 meeting room options, both indoor and outdoor. At the Exhibit Hall, groups can meet as a whole and then break into smaller groups without crowding within its 125,000 square feet of exhibit space and breakout rooms. The Mountain Clubhouse offers both indoor and outdoor meeting spaces, all with views of the mountains. At the Overlook at Cloud Camp, 1,500 square feet of floor-to-ceiling windows overlook Colorado Springs and The Broadmoor at 9,200 feet.

Several Team Building Options

After months of being sequestered away, The Broadmoor offers several team building options to restore relationships between coworkers. Broadmoor Outfitters works with teams to design custom programs of all sorts. Whether it’s mountain biking together, archery, hiking or rock climbing, all activities unite a team in the great outdoors. For groups with a more competitive edge, laser tag and experiences like The Amazing Race, the Cheyenne Canyon Quest, and The Battle of the Bridges are great options, among others.

Plethora of Things to Do

Once 5 o’clock hits and meetings are over, professionals can take advantage of activities outside of team building as well. The adventurous can glide over the South Cheyenne Canyon via 10 ziplines, or go mountain biking in Red Rock Canyon, North Cheyenne Canyon, or Ute Valley Park. Those looking for new experiences can learn to fly fish or go hiking on Chamberlain trail. Other creative opportunities at The Broadmoor include customized movies under the stars, horseback riding, falconry, and golfing at the Broadmoor Golf Club.

Availability of Private Accommodations

If a day away from home isn’t enough, luxurious, all-inclusive accommodations naturally provide less contact with others, as compared to a typical hotel stay. The Wilderness Experiences are all self-contained, and provide different experiences from the main resort. Venture up 3,000 feet to Cloud Camp by Cadillac Escalade, mule, or three-hour hike, where 11 one- to two-bedroom cabins overlook Pikes Peak. 100,000 acres of Pike’s National Forest surround all-inclusive cabins at the Ranch at Emerald Valley, and cottages and brownstones at the main resort provide kitchens, washers and dryers, and more to create a temporary home-away-from-home. Finally, guests can stay at ORVIS-endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge, where guests can learn to fly fish on five private miles of the Tarryall River. Located 75 minutes west of The Broadmoor, any of the seven cabins provide all-inclusive stays as well.
