Reasons to Host Meetings in Colorado

By Lauren Pahmeier

As working from home has become the norm since March, so has connecting with coworkers using webcams and Skype. Button downs and sweatpants have become a work-friendly outfit, and Zoom happy hours were the only way to grab a drink with friends. Especially for teams that used to meet in the office every day, a chance to shake up the (new) same old and safely reconnect in person is much needed after months apart. An out-of-state trip could be a memorable way to sync up with coworkers again, as well as do wonders for motivation and productivity upon return. When it comes to wide-open spaces, endless outdoor activities, as well as spacious meeting venues, Colorado provides more than views not possible from a home office window. Hosting small meetings at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs showcases all that the Centennial State has to offer.

Abundance of Large Meeting Spaces

Although non-essential workplaces are closed in California, Colorado’s The Broadmoor offers plenty of large meeting spaces for a team to spread out and get the job done. At the all new Exhibit Hall, groups can meet as a whole and then break into smaller groups without crowding within its 125,000 square feet of exhibit space and breakout rooms. Both indoor and outdoor spaces are conducive for small to medium meetings at The Mountain Clubhouse, both with views of the mountains. At 9,200 feet, The Overlook at Cloud Camp provides views of Colorado Springs and the Broadmoor via floor-to-ceiling windows within its 1,500 square feet. Finally, the Mountain View Terrace, connected to the Broadmoor West Ballroom and the Rocky Mountain Ballroom, provides a covered area for small groups to gather outdoors for a meal and much more.

Drive to Your Destination

As Colorado is within driving distance of California, teams don’t have to worry about the complication of booking flights and domestic travel. Trips to The Broadmoor mean professionals don’t have to choose between flying to a destination or not going at all, as many vacations and business trips have had to be cancelled in the past few months due to avoidance of the airport. Although a long drive, getting out of the house and onto the open road will be a memorable experience for all involved.

Private Accommodations Ensure Comfort

The Broadmoor offers secluded accommodations for Californians looking to limit exposure while out of town. Cloud Camp provides 11 one- and two-bedroom cabins overlooking Pikes Peak, for maximum views of the Colorado wilderness. At The Ranch at Emerald Valley, dedicated ranch staff work to make experiences at one of ten cabins surrounded by Pike National Forest a sequestered yet beautiful getaway. The Estate House, as well as brownstones at The Broadmoor itself are set with gourmet kitchens, washers and dryers, wet bars, and more to equip guests with everything they might need in their spaces without referring to the main resort.

Dozens of Outdoor Activities

With The Broadmoor’s 5,000 acres of land, guests can easily spread out into the wilderness in their free time to maintain social distancing guidelines. One of the most popular options includes hiking the forested-gateway views of North Cheyenne Cañon, although guests can also opt for more strenuous hikes with an 850-foot climb on the Section 16 Trail. Or, hiking to a 181-foot waterfall like Seven Falls means climbing 224 steps to its banks. Finally, guests can go between 10 ziplines that give views of South Cheyenne Canyon as well as the waterfall, with glides that range between 300 and 1,800 feet.

Sponsored by The Broadmoor

Situated at the gateway to the Colorado Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs, The Broadmoor and its Wilderness Experience properties of The Ranch at Emerald Valley, Cloud Camp and Fly Fishing Camp encompass 5,000 acres. The resort campus has 784 rooms, suites and cottages. It includes two championship golf courses, an award-winning spa and fitness center, nationally recognized tennis staff and program, 23 retail boutiques and ten restaurants, including Colorado’s only Forbes Five Star and AAA Five Diamond restaurant, Penrose Room, as well as ten additional cafes and lounges. Colorado Springs Airport is 15 minutes from the resort, and Denver International Airport is 70 minutes north of Colorado Springs.
