Beyond the Border: Find Coastal Flair on the Rhode Island Coast

Image:

The California coast may get all the press, but those on the right coast know that nothing beats New England. Few places capture the natty spirit of New England better than Ocean House and its sister property, Weekapaug Inn. Only a short distance from each other, these two hotels with different styles are a bit like the Kate and Pippa Middleton of resorts; Ocean House is the regal and more traditional one, while Weekapaug Inn has a sporty flair.

Meet Patrick Logue, Small Gestures, Big Results at Cape Resorts

Grand hotels have always captured Patrick Logue’s heart. “I remember walking hand-in-hand with my father through the lobby of the BellevueStratford Hotel in Philadelphia,” he says. While his father was attending meetings, the young Logue was quickly falling for the magic of the hospitality industry. “There was just something about it—the cigar smoke, the vibe,” he explains. It’s something that keeps him inspired today. “My heart has been in hotels for a very long time.”

Camp-Style Retreats are Ideal for Team-Building in the Great Outdoors

Image:

Team-building is an essential part of getting colleagues to work together better. By taking on a fun out-of-the-office activity, employees can view one another in a different light and connect in a setting outside of work.

The purpose of a team-building exercise is for people to learn how to think about the implications of these activities at their workplace and apply them for better production in a closer environment.

Journey Through the Skylands Region in Northwest New Jersey

Image:

When people talk about the picturesque skyland region of New Jersey, it represents the Northwest areas of the state and includes the counties of Morris, Somerset, Hunterdon, Warren and Sussex. The region has two national parks at its edges and a diverse and beautiful geography filled with lakes, rivers and hills dotted with farms.

3 of New Jersey's Top Restaurants Take the Spotlight

Image:

Awards do not come easily in the restaurant business. Michelin, AAA and Forbes tell us who the best is (and Wine Spectator when it comes to vino), and there are only a select few of local establishments that make the esteemed cut. The Bernards Inn is in rare company, as it is the only restaurant in New Jersey that has made the Forbes list of the top restaurants in the United States. AAA counts just 11 restaurants in its Four-Diamond rating in our state. While you may hear that trophies are handed out just for showing up, it’s clearly not the case when it comes to dining.

Brewing Up Fun with Tuckahoe Tours

Image:

Brewing together for pure pleasure since 2006, four guys (Tim Hanna, Matt McDevitt, Chris Konicki and Jim McAfee) finally made their dream a reality in 2011 by opening Tuckahoe Brewing Company. Located in Egg Harbor, Tuckahoe offers tours, private parties and sample tastings of their flavorful on-tap beers. Currently, Tuckahoe has 16 different beers in their tasting room that come in various sizes: 4-ounce pours, 10-ounce goblets and 16-ounce pints.

Signature Drink: Vizcaya

Image:

Maritime Parc, located at the marina at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, is well known for its stunning views of Manhattan and its elegant food, but its cocktail list is really worth perusing. These drinks aren’t just delicious—most of the specialty cocktails are inspired by and named for famous shipwrecks off the coast of New Jersey or New York.

The Spanish steamer Vizcaya was headed for Havana on Nov. 1, 1890, when it collided with a coal schooner, Cornelius Hargrave. The wreck is located off the coast of New Jersey about 25 miles south of the Manasquan inlet.
