20 Monroe Live brings an extra dose of urban sophistication to downtown Grand Rapids.

The sleek new space, which opened Feb. 1 and is owned and operated by House of Blues Entertainment, will allow planners to create surprising, dynamic and memorable events for crowds of up to 2,600.

The Clancy Room is a study in modern elegance, with nearly 2,000 square feet of sophisticated art deco styling, marble floors, walnutpaneled walls, Baker blown-glass chandeliers and a striking solid-wood table that seats up to 30 guests for intimate private dinners.

Nobu Hotel Chicago is set to debut in late 2017 in the popular West Loop neighborhood through a partnership of actor Robert DeNiro, Chef Nobu Matsushisa, Hollywood producer Meir Teper and Australian business tycoon James Packer. The luxury property will offer 103 guest rooms, a 10,000-square-foot restaurant, as well as a rooftop bar, indoor pool, private spa services and various unique event and private dining spaces.

The venue that launched Eminem is back, and it’s cleaned up its act.

Saint Andrew’s Hall, which has hosted the likes of Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Adele at shows when the megastars’ fans could fit in a smallish room, has unveiled its new Society Room, an upscale upstairs lounge space meant to attract event planners as well as concert bookers, and renovated its basement Shelter and main-floor hall. 

New Venue Spotlight: Philip S. Miller Park

Castle Rock’s Philip S. Miller Park officially opened in October 2014 with the crown jewel being the Miller Activity Complex with an aquatic center, trampoline room, golf simulator, drop-down batting cages and two indoor fields. Outdoors, a synthetic-turf field and more than 7 miles of soft-surface trail provide loads of additional options along with Castle Rock Zip Line Tours and Epic Adventure Tower, which are privately operated attractions.
