Set to debut in early summer of 2020, Sandestin Investments, LLC announced the name and launch of its new family-owned property on Florida’s Emerald Coast. The charming 250-room Hotel Effie Sandestin is now accepting leisure and group reservations.

The coastal property offers 20,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 13,000-square-foot ballroom. Hotel Effie also features a luxury spa, fitness center and Emerald Coast’s only rooftop pool. The restaurant, craft cocktail lobby bar, coffee bar and market, rooftop pool bar and in-room dining are being developed by celebrity chef, Hugh Acheson.

Hotel Effie’s fresh design will take shape with the help of Design Continuum, Inc., an interior design firm with over 40 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Pulling from the hotel’s surroundings, sandy limestone floors will mesh with a palette of natural textures while pops of chartreuse brighten the space. Naval-inspired light fixtures and maritime metals will tie in with linear grained grey wood to provide a contemporary coastal Florida essence.

Hotel Effie is named after owner Tom Becnel’s grandmother. In addition to her name, the property hopes to capture her charm and personality as she was described best as the ultimate hostess. Tom and his daughter, Sara Becnel, vice president of development for Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, plan to welcome guests as part of the family with a personalized experience.

With plenty of experience in luxury business development, construction management and interior design, Sara’s high attention to detail compliments her father’s humility and real estate proficiency. Together, these two have mimicked their family hospitality values and set the bar for Hotel Effie’s standard of savvy social grace, authenticity, feminine charm and southern taste.

Working to meet the summer 2020 debut, Hotel Effie is being constructed by Batson-Cook alongside the project’s architect, Cooper Carry. The newly developed hotel will be managed under Highgate, a premier real estate investment and hospitality management company

Formerly known as the Blackstone Hotel, the property will reopen as the Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel in spring 2020. Located in the Blackstone District, the oldest neighborhood in Omaha, Nebraska, the lively area is home to some of the city’s best bars, restaurants and nightlife. Its new name, Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel pays tribute to the original Blackstone Hotel’s Cottonwood Room bar that housed a Cottonwood tree growing from the center of the circular bar.
