Hotel Seville NoMad, Unbound Collection by Hyatt, announced mid-May the appointment of Tommasi Moccia as general manager and Marcus Ong as director of sales and marketing. Located in New York City’s NoMad neighborhood, the 348-room property reopened this April with a new name and updates to guest rooms, interiors, and amenities. The hotel was formerly the James NoMad Hotel.
Moccia brings more than two decades of hospitality experience in the New York market. Before joining Hotel Seville NoMad, he led the rebranding and reopening of Hyatt Grand Central New York in New York City and held prior roles as director of operations at Hyatt Centric Times Square and Andaz 5th Avenue, also in New York City. In his current position, he is responsible for day-to-day operations at the property and overall hotel management.
Ong also has more than 20 years of experience and most recently served as director of sales, marketing, and events at Hyatt Regency Greenwich in Connecticut. While there, he oversaw a $40 million renovation and repositioning of the hotel. At Hotel Seville NoMad, Ong will oversee group sales, event coordination, and marketing strategy as the hotel prepares for its next phase.
As part of its transformation the hotel introduced Il Bar, a new gathering space located in the lobby. Designed by Danish architect Thomas Juul-Hansen, the venue features a cascading stone bar and offers cocktails and small plates. Il Bar is open Tuesday through Saturday from 3:30 to 10:30 p.m.
The hotel currently offers four event spaces, including the Madison Room, which accommodates up to 200 guests, and the more intimate Workshop room for up to 40.
